GPOYW: I needed a new icon, and also check out my green nailpolish that Anna bought me for my birthday edition.

So, hey, guess what? I got a job offer this week from Teach for America, to my great surprise. If I take this, I get to teach high school English in Baltimore, while taking classes toward my Masters in Education at Johns Hopkins. Right, WHAT? And this with a salary and benefits and everything. It also means I’ll spend a month this summer at a teaching institute in Philadelphia, totally paid for (room and board too).

Since when am I old enough to be a high school teacher? How did I land this job? Also, I’ve lived in California my whole life. This is crazy. I’m going to be so cold.

TODAY IS MY BIRTHDAY!

I had an amazing dinner party last night with friends, and the weather gods decided even to bless us with lovely weather in the evening so we could eat outside by candlelight, and even more beautiful skies today. The six pizzas I made yesterday from scratch turned out great, and everyone else brought along delicious vegetarian dishes, too. When I woke up from my nap this afternoon I got a text from Isabel asking if I’d like to meet her at Ici, so I put on a sundress and walked over there and got a double-scoop (vanilla and oatmeal chocolate-chip), and we ate in the sunshine before walking home. PERFECT.
