San Francisco, California   (via evan-g, -cityoflove)
I had an amazing last week in Washington state, visiting my grandma, spending time with my mom, and sleeping in and hiking a lot and eating a ton of fish. And then on Wednesday I spent sixteen hours travelling across three time zones and arrived back in Baltimore Thursday morning, a zombie.
I miss home. I’m also really excited to be here, though. School starts August 30th. Eeek.

“There are more locations than girl and boy, man and woman. Decamping from one does not have to mean climbing into another. There’s plenty of space in between, or beyond the bounds, or all along and across the plane or sphere or whatever of gender, and it is entirely okay to say, “I do not like being a girl, and so I shall be a boy.” But it must also be okay to say, “I do not like being a girl, so I shall set about changing what it means to be a girl,” and yes, okay to say, “I do not like being a girl, and so I shan’t.”

S. Bear Bergman, from the essay ‘I’m Just Saying’ in hir book, The Nearest Exit May Be Behind You.

Alone With Everybody

the flesh covers the bone
and they put a mind
in there and
sometimes a soul,
and the women break
vases against the walls
and the men drink too
much
and nobody finds the
one
but keep
looking
crawling in and out
of beds.
flesh covers
the bone and the
flesh searches
for more than
flesh.

there’s no chance
at all:
we are all trapped
by a singular
fate.

nobody ever finds
the one.

the city dumps fill
the junkyards fill
the madhouses fill
the hospitals fill
the graveyards fill

nothing else
fills.

I cannot wait to have a big bed like this again. I’ve been living in a dorm room with a stranger for the past five weeks and have never been so grateful for the promise of my own space. Yesterday Greg and I went to Baltimore to look at houses, and we found one that we’re pursuing. It’s an adorable little red brick house with a back yard and garden and a nice porch out front. Hopefully it will work out. If not, I will be homeless again as of next Saturday
